Hotels and resorts

Hotels and resorts located in tropical coastal areas are a paradise for tourists but often require large amounts of cooling to keep their guests happy. Seawater Air Conditioning (SWAC) is an eco-friendly and reliable alternative to provide up to a 90% reduction in air conditioning electricity usage. In typical island locations A/C accounts for over 60% of total electricity consumption. This provides a large opportunity for potential energy and costs savings. Also, it avoids the use of potentially harmful refrigerants.

SWAC systems work by replacing the energy intensive central refrigeration systems with cold seawater from the ocean’s depth, typically at 4C-8C. The cold water can then be used in conjunction with large centralized systems or individual ‘split’ units cooling the air to a comfortable temperature.
