OTEC Advanced Research and Demonstration Prototype

In cooperation with the TU Delft, Bluerise has designed and constructed a room size demonstration of an advanced Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC) power plant. The small-scale working power-extraction cycle (an ‘OTEC demo’) is a ‘proof-of-principle’ and a real innovation, since it will be the first mini OTEC plant demonstrating the chosen advanced cycle.

The feasibility of the complete system will be tested, using the same operational conditions as available in reality from the oceans. System input is warm water of 28°C and cold water of 5°C. Having a working, demonstrable plant is an important step in establishing our research centre for (low-grade) thermal energy conversion technologies.
